Gwyneth Paltrow: I’m Offended By “Misogynistic” Comparisons To Other Actresses Gwyneth_2865872b

Gwyneth Paltrow was offended by attempts to compare her lifestyle website Goop to other actresses’ online ventures in a new interview, saying there was “something slightly misogynistic about it.” She contended that male actors don’t have their businesses compared. “I wonder if George Clooney would be asked about Puff Daddy’s ancillary liquor line,” Paltrow said.

The actress made the comments in a interview with Time magazine when she was asked about the online businesses of other successful actresses. “I’m fascinated how the media in particular are so confounded by entrepreneurial women doing something outside of their box,” Paltrow said. She went on, “People are grasping at straws to tie us together and I get it, because it makes a good story, but I’m slightly offended by this sort of generalization that happens with myself and Jessica [Alba] and Reese [Witherspoon] and Blake [Lively].”

“Yes, there are similarities,” continued the Oscar winner. “But there aren’t stories in Time written saying, ‘Wow, look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, who did x, y, and z!'” Paltrow added that she hopes the media narrative surrounding her website changes. “You just keep going in hopes the story becomes not people pitting women against each other, which is not founded in truth.” she said.

Paltrow added, “There’s no competition.” What do you think of Gwyneth Paltrow’s comments that comparing Goop to other actresses’ websites is “misogynistic”?
